Gallery 98’s rich inventory of announcement cards from Light, the pioneering photography gallery, are now featured in a new online exhibition Light Gallery & Fine Arts Photography, 1971 – 1987.
Over its seventeen-year history, Light helped define the genre of art photography and launched many of its leading practitioners. It also created a network of collectors, and helped to train a generation of photography dealers many of whom are still active today.
The fifty-two (52) announcement cards in Gallery 98’s online exhibition illustrate the rise of art photography in the 1970s and 80s. The invitations spotlight photographers associated with Light and the different ways they explored photography as a creative art form.
