Since the late 1970s Harvey Wang has been the quintessential East Village photographer finding striking images in all the neighborhood’s nooks and crannies. His pictures at the short lived Club 57 not far from ABC No Rio in the East Village capture the mix of art and clublife in the 1980s. Kwong Chi (1950 – 1990) , the man behind the Elvis mask, is famous for his photographs of Keith Haring’s subway drawings.
