Jeb Stuart Magruder was deputy director of the Committee for the Re-Election of the President. He had already pled guilty, and was serving his sentence, when he testified in the Watergate cover-up trial. Assistant special prosecutor Jill Wine-Volner questioned a number of witnesses during the trial.

Since cameras were banned from courtrooms, news outlets depended on professional sketch artists like Freda Reiter for visuals. When Reiter was assigned the Watergate burglary trial, in 1973, she had no idea that she would be spending the better part of two years in Washington.
