This is a very influential issue of Artforum. Thomas McEvilley’s biting criticism of the exhibition “Primitivism’ In 20th Century Art,” has had a major effect on how language is used and the emergence of multiculturalism as mainstream.

The full magazine comes with an additional three-page letter-to-the-editor (from the next issue of Artforum) by William Rubin, the curator of “Primitivism’ In 20th Century Art” at MoMA. There is also an extensive reply by McEvilley.
