William Pope.L, Franklin Furnace, Flyer, 1989

Sold

Flyer for a performance by William Pope.L at Franklin Furnace entitled “George is in the Lake,” January 13 and 14 + 20 and 21, 1989.

8.5 x 11 in.

William Pope.L and collaborator Jim Calder describe this piece as “A lake of ice, the glow of enemy fires, and polka music set the stage for three ragged sons of the revolution. A metal barge carries the noble General George Washington across the ice when, WHAP!, the General teeters and falls beneath the icy folds. A seriously funny feminist fairy tale, “George Is In The Lake” asks the question “What if George Washington had not crossed the Delaware?” The answer is found in this anti-war, pro-gay, deconstructionist musical theater.”
