Vivienne Westwood & Malcolm McLaren, No Future, Sleeveless Shirt, 1977

This t-shirt contains text by the beatnik writer Alexander Trocchi, one of a series of clothing items featuring subversive messages. This design with text and zippers was first produced around 1975 when the Westwood/McLaren store was named SEX. They continued producing this design when the store operated as Seditionaries from 1976 – 1980. A seditionaries label can be seen on the bottom of the shirt. A photo of the shirt can be found on the cover of the book No Future: Sex, Seditionarie and The Sex Pistols by  Michael Bracewell and Andrew Wilson.
