In 1989, the Guerrilla Girls paid the MTA so their posters could be used as advertisements inside New York City buses. The posters that were actually placed in the buses had to be printed on heavy cardboard stock. At the same time, they printed posters (like this one) using the same paper stock that they used for their other posters, which were wheatpasted on the walls and light poles in SoHo and Tribeca.
